Chillventa is one of the leading international exhibitions for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump technologies. The event brings together manufacturers, engineers, distributors and industry professionals from around the world to explore technological developments and exchange expertise.
At AREF Chillers, we used this year's exhibition as an opportunity to present our cooling technologies, discuss industry requirements and connect with international professionals. We exhibited two chiller units, each representing a different approach to modern cooling: a hybrid freecooling chiller with inverter technology and a compact chiller operating with R290 propane refrigerant.
These two solutions reflect our focus on energy efficiency, alternative refrigerants and application-specific engineering.
R290 Propane Chiller: A Natural Refrigerant for Sustainable Cooling
One of the key products we showcased at Chillventa 2026 was our R290 propane chiller.
R290, commonly known as propane, is a natural refrigerant with a very low Global Warming Potential (GWP). As the refrigeration industry increasingly evaluates alternatives to conventional synthetic refrigerants, R290 is attracting attention for applications where low-GWP refrigerant technology is a priority.
Depending on the application and system design, R290 chillers can be considered for industrial process cooling and various commercial cooling requirements. Their environmental profile makes propane an important option for businesses looking to reduce the potential climate impact associated with refrigerants.
At AREF Chillers, we presented our R290 propane chiller to demonstrate our work with natural refrigerant technology and our commitment to developing solutions that address evolving industry needs.
Because propane is classified as an A3, highly flammable refrigerant, its use requires particular attention to system design, component selection, installation conditions and applicable safety standards. These factors are essential when evaluating and implementing R290 cooling systems.
Our participation in Chillventa provided an opportunity to discuss propane chiller technology with visitors and explore its potential across suitable cooling applications.
Hybrid Freecooling Chiller: Making Better Use of Ambient Conditions
Our second exhibition unit combined hybrid freecooling technology with inverter-controlled compression.
Freecooling systems use favourable outdoor conditions to reduce the need for mechanical refrigeration. When ambient temperatures and operating conditions are suitable, freecooling can provide part or, in appropriate system configurations, all of the required cooling without relying entirely on compressor operation.
This can be particularly beneficial for industrial facilities and process applications that require cooling throughout the year. By taking advantage of suitable outdoor temperatures, freecooling systems can reduce compressor operating hours and help lower energy consumption.
Hybrid freecooling technology combines freecooling and mechanical refrigeration, allowing the system to adapt to changing ambient conditions and cooling loads. The actual energy savings depend on factors such as the local climate, required water temperatures, operating profile and system configuration.
At Chillventa 2026, we presented our hybrid freecooling chiller to demonstrate how this technology can contribute to more efficient cooling when correctly matched to the application.
Inverter Chiller Technology for Variable Cooling Loads
Inverter technology was another important feature of our hybrid freecooling chiller.
Inverter-controlled compressors can adjust their operating speed according to the cooling demand. Unlike conventional fixed-speed operation, this enables the system to respond more precisely to changing loads and can improve efficiency during partial-load operation.
For applications with fluctuating cooling requirements, inverter chillers can help optimise compressor operation and reduce unnecessary energy consumption. Their performance depends on the application, operating conditions and overall system design.
At AREF Chillers, we integrate inverter technology into suitable cooling solutions to support more flexible capacity control and efficient operation.
Combining inverter technology with hybrid freecooling brings two complementary approaches together in a single system. When outdoor conditions are favourable, freecooling can reduce the need for mechanical refrigeration. When additional cooling is required, inverter-controlled compressors can adjust their output to meet the demand.
This combination can offer significant operational advantages when properly selected and engineered for the project's requirements.
Engineering Cooling Solutions for Different Applications
Cooling requirements vary depending on the industry, process, operating temperatures, ambient conditions and annual operating hours. Selecting the right chiller therefore requires more than simply matching nominal cooling capacity.
At AREF Chillers, we develop cooling solutions for different industrial and commercial requirements, including air-cooled chillers, water-cooled chillers, inverter chillers, freecooling systems and hybrid freecooling solutions.
Our engineering approach considers application requirements, operating conditions and long-term performance objectives. By evaluating these factors, we aim to provide solutions that meet customers' cooling needs while supporting energy-efficient operation.
Our participation in Chillventa 2026 allowed us to present these technologies together and discuss their suitability for different applications with professionals from international markets.
AREF Chillers at Chillventa 2026: Connecting with the Global Cooling Industry
Throughout Chillventa 2026, we had the opportunity to meet visitors, exchange technical knowledge and discuss cooling requirements with professionals from different markets.
International exhibitions are valuable opportunities not only to present our products, but also to understand changing customer expectations, explore potential partnerships and follow developments across the refrigeration and HVAC industries.
At AREF Chillers, we continue to develop solutions focused on application-specific engineering, energy efficiency and the evolving needs of industrial cooling.
Our exhibition of an R290 propane chiller alongside an inverter-driven hybrid freecooling system reflected our commitment to exploring different technologies for modern cooling applications.
We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand, including our customers, business partners and industry professionals, for their interest and valuable discussions.
AREF Chillers will continue developing industrial cooling solutions with a focus on engineering, energy efficiency and sustainable refrigerant technologies.
